Since I’m a little slow on the uptake (I’ve been on the island in total about three months now, not including a wonderful trip home for the holidays) I’ll try to recreate a few things from my first few days/weeks/months here. This will be short though (I’ll supplement with photos) because a) my memory is fading — why? I’m 22! and b) it was kind of sad back then. I remember crying a fair amount and missing home very much. (This is weird to write right now because I’m actually very happy here now. I had one of those I-love-this-place-so-much-I-can-barely-breathe kind of days today. But I guess that’s what I get for waiting three months to write about this.) Anyway, despite loving my home, my family, my friends, etc. I find myself in the position to be homesick quite a lot and no matter where I go I’m usually rather miserable at first because of it (cool life). But as I’ve come to learn about myself, I adapt and grow to love the place I’ve moved myself to. This has made for a lot of wonderful experiences over the years and this one is no different (which really is a cool life).
So anyway, despite all the boo-hooing I managed to get over the hump and really get settled in and begin enjoying myself (it was really hard getting used to afternoon siestas on the beach, as you can imagine). Moral of the story: I’m so happy to be here, living in such a beautiful place, and I am fully aware of how lucky I am to be here. Let me show you what I mean.

- fountains at the cathedral
